To generate Form 24Q, perform the following actions:
- Update the Form 24Q parameters
This is a one-time activity. You can perform this activity at the time of filing the returns for the first time on greytHR. You only need to redo this activity, if any information changes. To update the Form 24Q parameters, perform the following actions:- Navigate to Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
- Click the Settings icon available next to the Challans button. The Form 24Q Settings page opens.
You can also navigate to Home > Settings icon > System Settings > Income Tax > Form 24Q. - On Form 24Q Settings page, enter/select all the fields given under Particulars of Return, Particulars of Deductor (employer), Particulars of the Person Responsible for Deduction of Tax, and preferences.
- Click Save to update the Form 24Q parameters.
- Add the Challan details
A Challan is a receipt number provided by the bank where TDS is deposited. To add the challan details, perform the following actions:
- Navigate to Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
- Click Challans. Challans page opens.
- Click Add Challan. Add Challan page opens.
- Fill in all the details.
- Click Save to add the challan details to the greytHR application.
- Similarly, add the challan details for all the remaining months for the quarter.
- Generate CSI file from the NSDL website
Now you must download the CSI file from the NSDL website. The NSDL website provides the Tax Information Network of the Income Tax Department. To generate CSI file, perform the following actions:
- On www.tin-nsdl.com, navigate to Services > Challan Status Inquiry > TAN Based View. The Tax Information Network page opens.
- In the Tax Deduction/ Collection Account Number (TAN) text box, enter your company's TAN number.
- From the Challan Tender Date/Date of Deposit (Period) dropdown calendars, select the quarter for which you want to download the challan.
- Enter the captcha text as shown in the image.
- Click Download Challan File.
Note: Do not open or rename the downloaded challan file.
- Upload the CSI file in greytHR and generate FVU
To upload the CSI file and generate the FVU, perform the following actions:
- Navigate to Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
- Click the relevant quarter. Form 24Q Filing tab appears.
- Click Generate FVU. Checklist before you generate Form 24Q popup appears.
- Click Upload File. Select the CSI file you have downloaded from the NSDL website.
- Click Ok, Generate FVU.
